2006-10-25 17:36:17 First encountered the Tibetan Youth Congress at a hunger strike tent. It was for Tenzin Delek Rinpoche, a Tibetan monk unjustly imprisoned and sentenced to death by the Chinese government. It was December 2004 in Dharamsala, India, the home of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and seat of the Tibetan Government in Exile. It was my first time in India, first time in Dharamsala, first steps on a path to learn of the Tibetan community. Since then that path has come across TYC many times, the largest Tibetan NGO that is fighting for a Free Tibet and 2 weekends ago the local San Francisco chapter of the Tibetan Youth Congress celebrated 37 years of the Tibetan Youth Congress. That many years is a bit of history and to understand such is facilitated by education and in that regard the Tibetan Community Center of Northern California held an Info Session on College Admissions and Financial Aid. And good education requires good educational institutions so that's why San Francisco schools and students would benefit greatly with Jane Kim for San Francisco School Board of which this past weekend was an art auction fundraiser as we head down the final stretch of campaigning before the November 7 midterm elections
